UN Condemns Israeli Tactics in West Bank, Cites Rising Palestinian Casualties

GENEVA: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has publicly criticized Israel's deployment of what it describes as "war-like" tactics in the West Bank. The organization highlighted the fatalities of nine Palestinians within a single week, raising alarms over the humanitarian situation in the region. According to Maan News Agency, Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the UN office, addressed the media at a news conference in Geneva. He expressed grave concerns regarding the Israeli forces' use of lethal force, which he characterized as excessive and contributing to the worsening humanitarian conditions faced by Palestinians. Laerke provided details that among the nine Palestinians killed between October 8 and 14, a child was also martyred. Laerke noted that Israeli authorities have justified their actions by alleging that most of those killed were involved in attacks against Israelis. However, the UN's statement underscores the urgent need for scrutiny of these tactics and their impl ications on the humanitarian landscape in the West Bank.
