HEBRON: Financial aid was distributed on Thursday to 214 farmers, comprising both male and female beneficiaries, as part of a project aimed at rehabilitating unused lands in the Hebron Governorate. The initiative resulted in the cultivation and reclamation of approximately 750 dunums of land, valued at 339 thousand US dollars. The project was carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), with funding from the Canadian government and collaboration among all relevant parties. According to Maan News Agency, the distribution event was attended by notable figures including Khaled Dudin, Governor of Hebron, Dr. Rizq Islimieh, Minister of Agriculture, and Chiro, Director of the FAO, along with his deputy Dr. Azzam Saleh. Other attendees included Hani Jaara, Secretary of the North Hebron Region, Issa Manasra, Vice President of the North Hebron Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and various directors of agricultural directorates, official institutions, and heads of local a uthorities. A large gathering of citizens and farmers was also present. In his address, Governor Dudin expressed gratitude to all contributors towards the successful completion of the initiative, emphasizing its importance in serving the agricultural sector in Palestinian society. He highlighted the role of farmers as the primary defenders of the Palestinian national project and called for continued support across the governorate. Minister Salimiya reiterated the project's commitment to enhancing and empowering farmers, particularly those who are unemployed or have limited income. He assured that the ministry, in partnership with relevant authorities, would persist in executing projects that bolster Palestinian farmers.
