Vegetable Imports Approved to Address West Bank Shortages, Tomatoes Among Key Focus

Bethlehem: The Ministries of Agriculture and Economy in the West Bank have announced a decision to import vegetables, primarily tomatoes, potatoes, and onions, to address shortages in the local market anticipated during October, November, and December. The initiative aims to balance supply without undermining local agriculture. According to Maan News Agency, the Ministry of Agriculture has assured that the import volumes will be carefully controlled to prevent negative impacts on local producers. Preparations for these imports are set to begin next week, with traders gearing up for the process. The ministry has indicated that while imports will be accepted from various regions, Turkey, the Netherlands, and Jordan are expected to be the primary sources. This move reflects a strategic effort to stabilize the vegetable supply in the West Bank during the coming months.
