Iran Condemns Israeli Attack, Citing Violations of International Law

TEHRAN: The Iranian Foreign Ministry has issued a strong condemnation of what it described as an aggressive action by Israel against several military centers in Iran. The Ministry labeled the attack as a clear violation of international law and the United Nations Charter, particularly highlighting the breach of principles that prohibit the threat or use of force against a nation's territorial integrity and sovereignty. According to National news agency - Lebanon, the Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized its right to defend itself against foreign aggression, citing Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, which acknowledges the inherent right of legitimate defense. The Ministry declared its commitment to utilizing all available resources to safeguard Iran's security and vital interests. It also expressed gratitude to peace-supporting nations in the region and globally for denouncing the Israeli actions. The statement further accused Israel of perpetuating occupation, illegal activities, and crimes in the reg ion, particularly against Palestinians and Lebanon, attributing these actions to the support Israel receives from the United States and some Western countries. The Ministry claimed these actions are major contributors to regional tension and insecurity. In a call to action, the Ministry urged United Nations member states, signatories of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, and parties to the 1949 Geneva Conventions to undertake urgent and collective measures against what it described as Israeli violations of international norms and the UN Charter.
