ATHENS: Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohamed Alhashemi has been reappointed as the Senior Vice President of the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation for another four-year term. The decision was made during the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation's Annual Congress, which coincided with the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Greece. According to Emirates News Agency, the Congress was attended by Panagiotis Theodoropoulos, President of the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation, alongside representatives from various continental federations, including Joachim Thumfart, the Executive Director of the Federation, and Fahad Ali Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Union. During the meeting, Theodoropoulos was re-elected by acclamation and members approved new regulations for the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Union. The Congress also reviewed the past year's achievements and confirmed Thailand as the host for the upcoming World Jiu-Jitsu Championship. Al Shamsi, speaking on behalf of Al Hashemi, expre ssed gratitude to the Congress members for their continued support. He extended congratulations to President Theodoropoulos on his re-election and conveyed Al Hashemi's pride in his reappointment. Al Shamsi emphasized the responsibility of elevating jiu-jitsu globally, improving workforce capabilities, and increasing opportunities for tournaments across various age groups. He reiterated a commitment to working with international partners to ensure fair opportunities for all athletes while upholding integrity and professionalism in the sport.
