Beirut: US envoy Amos Hochstein will soon visit Lebanon for direct discussions on unresolved issues, as announced by Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati in a TV interview. Speaking on Monday, Mikati emphasized the necessity of addressing these vague files in person. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Mikati highlighted that Lebanon's response to a recent US proposal was positive, though some points still require further discussion. He expressed hope for reaching a ceasefire in Lebanon soon, underscoring the importance of implementing Resolution 1701 in the south of Litani to restore stability and end ongoing violence in south Lebanon. Mikati acknowledged that Speaker Nabih Berri is leading negotiations with the US mediator and stated his regular communication with Berri. He mentioned that he has not encountered any conditions linked to Israel's operational freedom in Lebanon. Mikati emphasized the importance of reinforcing the Lebanese army's presence in south Lebanon and insisted on the necessi ty of legitimate weapons. He further insisted that the "Israeli enemy" must withdraw from any movements made within Lebanese territory.
