Bkerki: The case concerning the family of Doreid al-Assad revolves around the use of fake passports, according to Lebanon's Caretaker Interior Minister, Bassam Malwawi. The General Security agency is actively enforcing the law in this matter, Malwawi stated following a meeting with Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rahi in Bkerki.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Malwawi emphasized that the issue of falsified travel documents is being taken seriously, with the General Security agency ensuring strict adherence to legal procedures. He further clarified misconceptions surrounding the identity of individuals crossing the border from Syria, stating that not everyone entering Lebanon from Syria is affiliated with the Syrian army.
The minister's comments come amid heightened scrutiny over border security and immigration controls between Lebanon and Syria.
