ISTANBUL: The Turkish military launched an intensive artillery bombardment on Wednesday directed at Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) positions near the city of Ayn al-Arab, also known as Kobani, resulting in significant material damage. The attacks focused on strategic locations near Kobani, including the Qarqozak Bridge area and the village of Bir Hassou, causing destruction to civilian homes and properties.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Turkish artillery struck six times from its bases situated in the village of Al-Hoshriya, near Manbij. In addition to the artillery strikes, a Turkish drone targeted a sugar factory in the town of Deir Hafer, located east of Aleppo, further contributing to the damage inflicted on infrastructure in the region.
The Turkish military's operations in areas controlled by the SDF, a group backed by Western allies in the fight against extremist factions, have escalated tensions in the region. These latest developments underscore the ongoing volatility and complex dynamics of the Syrian conflict, where multiple actors vie for control and influence.
