Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Thursday welcomed a fresh ceasefire agreement in Gaza, hoping that the deal will 'end the tragic reality' the battered Strip, and appreciating the international efforts in that respect. President Aoun said: 'Israel's serious commitment to the clauses of the agreement requires a follow-up by the sponsoring states and the United Nations, because the Israeli enemy has always evaded its commitments and ignored the international resolutions.' President Aoun reiterated the right of the Palestinians to establish their sovereign state under the international legitimacy resolutions.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun emphasized the importance of international oversight to ensure Israel's adherence to the ceasefire terms. He called for continuous monitoring by both the sponsoring states and the United Nations to prevent any breaches. The President also highlighted the historical context of Israel's non-compliance with past agreements and international resolutions, stressing the need for accountability.
