Washington: US President-elect Donald Trump's National Security Advisor Mike Waltz stated on Sunday that if Hamas backs out of the hostage deal and the ceasefire in Gaza, the United States will support Israel "in doing what it needs to do," according to Sky News Arabia. He emphasized that the rule of Hamas over Gaza is "completely unacceptable."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Waltz further elaborated in an interview with CBS, asserting, "Hamas will never rule Gaza." He reiterated the stance of the incoming administration, making it clear to the Israeli public and government that the US stands firmly with Israel. He affirmed that if Hamas does not adhere to the terms of the agreement, the US will support Israel's right to resume fighting if necessary.
Earlier remarks made by Waltz on Fox News also highlighted the administration's unwavering support for Israel. He stated that the administration has communicated its position clearly to the Israelis, reassuring them of US backing in the event of a breakdown in the ceasefire agreement.
