Ramallah: The Israeli occupation forces have intensified military measures at key entrances and exits throughout the governorates in the occupied West Bank, impacting daily movement for residents.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, local sources have reported that the occupation forces have specifically targeted areas around Ramallah and Al-Bireh. They have closed the Birzeit-Attara road with cement blocks and blocked the Kafr Malik road, affecting vehicles traveling to Jericho and Nablus. This has significantly hindered movement into and out of the city.
Numerous military checkpoints have been established north, northwest, and east of Ramallah. At these checkpoints, the army inspects vehicles and checks people's ID cards, notably at the Nabi Saleh gate checkpoint northwest of the city. Additional checkpoints have been set up at the gate of the village of Aboud northwest, and at the entrance to the village of Ein Siniya north, further restricting movement at the Atara al-Balad checkpoint north of Ramallah.
In Jericho, the occupation continues to obstruct entrances and exits, restricting the flow of traffic. In the Jordan Valley, military measures have tightened at Tayasir and Hamra checkpoints, leading to a significant vehicle buildup and creating a major crisis for those attempting to pass through.
Since yesterday, strict measures at these checkpoints have had a detrimental effect on the daily lives of local citizens. The occupation army also erected a military checkpoint at the entrance to Al-Manshiya, southeast of Bethlehem, where vehicles were stopped, inspected, and passengers' IDs were checked, resulting in long lines of civilians waiting to proceed.
The entrance to Al-Manshiya serves as the sole exit for villages in the southern countryside of Bethlehem to access the city center. However, the occupation forces frequently close it using an iron gate. Additionally, the Jaba military checkpoint, northeast of occupied Jerusalem, was closed in both directions, causing severe traffic congestion. Civilians attempting to navigate around the checkpoint via rough dirt roads faced attacks on their vehicles, with one vehicle's glass smashed and keys seized by the forces.
