Kanaan: MP Ibrahim Kanaan called today on the municipalities in the Metn region to be strict when it comes to the displaced issue, and on the upcoming new government to exert all kinds of pressure on the UNHCR to pay money to the displaced in Syria only.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Kanaan added that "this measure is most effective for their return. Otherwise, let us consider the option of Lebanese banks refraining from transferring money to them." He emphasized the rising crime rate among Syrians as a threat to the lives of many Lebanese, coupled with economic, social, and environmental risks.
Kanaan expressed that organizing the return of the displaced has become a national duty, arguing that the "unsafe areas" justification is no longer applicable.
