Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri met with Deputy US Envoy to the Middle East Morgan Ortagus and her delegation at Ain al-Tineh Palace. The meeting was attended by US Ambassador Lisa Johnson and Berri's media advisor Ali Hamdan.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, discussions focused on the prevailing conditions in Lebanon, specifically in the south where Israel continues to violate UN Resolution 1701. This resolution includes a ceasefire agreement, which Israel is accused of breaching through its occupation of Lebanese territory, destruction of homes, and airstrikes on various regions. Berri emphasized the need for the US administration, as a guarantor of the agreement, to ensure Israel's full compliance with the resolution.
Berri described Israel as an "absolute evil" and highlighted the necessity of resistance against its occupation. He commended the Lebanese army's role and professionalism in adhering to the resolution's terms. During a separate meeting with French officials, Berri further addressed the situation, urging for international efforts to resolve the ongoing violations in southern Lebanon.
