Mikati Calls for Support of President Aoun’s Term and Urges Diplomatic Efforts for Israeli Withdrawal

Munich: Former Prime Minister Najib Mikati has expressed optimism during President Joseph Aoun's term, urging all parties to support the new government in Lebanon. Mikati emphasized the necessity of implementing financial and economic reforms, which have been drafted and are awaiting parliamentary approval.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Mikati stressed the importance of political stability, which he believes hinges on Israel's complete withdrawal from Lebanese territories and the extension of Lebanese sovereignty. He highlighted the need for both internal and external stability to fulfill the aspirations of the Lebanese people in building a strong state.

Mikati shared these views while participating in a forum on "The Middle East and the Road to Stability" at the Munich Security Conference. He discussed the future of the Middle East with political leaders, emphasizing the need for a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue through a two-state solution. He underscored that regional peace requires respecting Palestinian rights and resolving the longstanding conflict.

Furthermore, Mikati reiterated Lebanon's support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination. He called on the international community to act swiftly to halt violence, protect civilians, and work toward a just solution that honors Palestinian rights and guarantees the return of refugees according to international law.
