Beirut: Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, held a series of meetings to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and addressing challenges in the construction sector. Rasamny met with Australian Ambassador to Lebanon, Andrew Barnes, to explore ways to enhance ties between the two nations.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Rasamny also engaged in discussions with the Lebanese Syndicate of Public Works and Construction Contractors, led by Engineer Maroun Helou. The meeting focused on the difficulties facing the construction sector due to the ongoing economic crisis and explored solutions for reconstruction efforts, emphasizing the role of Lebanese contractors. Rasamny announced plans to launch a tender for consultancy firms to oversee upcoming projects, ensuring adherence to technical and legal standards.
Rasamny also met with Indian Ambassador to Lebanon, Muhammad Noor Rahman Sheikh, along with other officials, to discuss enhancing cooperation in key sectors under the ministry's jurisdiction, especially transportation. India's expertise in this area was highlighted during the discussions.
Additionally, Rasamny received MP Elias Hankash and Youssef Sharbaty, who updated him on a solar-powered street lighting project in Metn. The project includes installing solar-powered lamps in Roumieh in partnership with local municipalities and international programs.
