Beirut: The municipal and mukhtar elections kicked off at 7:00 AM in Mount Lebanon, covering its six districts: Metn, Keserwan, Jbeil, Chouf, Aley, and Baabda. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the elections are taking place in a calm atmosphere amid tight security measures enforced by the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces since the early hours of the night. A total of 9,321 candidates-8,142 men and 1,179 women-submitted their nominations for municipal and mukhtar positions across Mount Lebanon. Additionally, 68 municipalities have already won uncontested.
