Berri Engages with Druze Leader, Discusses National Unity and Reform Efforts

Beirut: Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, met with Sheikh Akl of the Druze community, Dr. Sami Abilmona, at the Second Presidency in Ain El-Tineh, accompanied by a delegation from the Druze religious council. The delegation included judges and advisors. The meeting addressed political, national, and spiritual matters, focusing on developments in Lebanon and the region.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Sheikh Abilmona commended Speaker Berri's national stance and noted the alignment of reform efforts between the presidency and Parliament. He emphasized the importance of fully implementing the Taif Accord and safeguarding national unity through a renewed spiritual partnership. He mentioned that a series of intellectual forums on this topic would culminate in a national conference under the President's patronage.

Besides the meeting with the Druze leader, Speaker Berri also engaged with former minister Samir Jisr and former Public Works Minister Dr. Ali Hamieh to discuss recent political developments.

In a separate engagement, Berri sent a congratulatory cable to Mr. Azouz Nasri on his election as President of the Algerian Council of the Nation. He expressed hopes to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between Lebanon and Algeria.
