Hajjar Meets U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary Over Security Cooperation

Beirut: Interior and Municipalities Minister, Ahmad Hajjar, on Thursday met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), Maggie Nardi, in Beirut, accompanied by U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Lisa Johnson. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and ongoing support provided by INL to the Ministry of Interior, particularly in relation to Lebanon's Internal Security Forces.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to enhance security measures and develop effective strategies to combat narcotics and enforce law within Lebanon. The partnership aims to bolster the capabilities of Lebanon's Internal Security Forces, ensuring they are better equipped to handle internal and external challenges.

Maggie Nardi reiterated the U.S. government's dedication to supporting Lebanon in its efforts to maintain stability and security. The collaboration is part of a broader initiative to provide resources and training to Lebanese security personnel, enhancing their operational effectiveness.

The U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson, emphasized the importance of the continued partnership between the two countries. She highlighted the role of the INL in facilitating this cooperation and ensuring that the necessary support is given to Lebanon's security institutions.
