Beirut: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, has emphasized the need for restraint and the initiation of constructive and serious negotiations to restore stability in the region. He highlighted concerns over the recent escalation in Israeli-Iranian confrontations, particularly following the bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities at dawn, which could potentially escalate tensions in multiple regions and countries.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun is calling on leaders of influential countries to intervene and prevent further escalation. He noted that Lebanon has suffered greatly from past conflicts and is unwilling to endure additional hardship, as the costs of such wars are unsustainable for the nation. The President stressed the importance of avoiding further loss of life and destruction.
Since the developments early today, President Aoun has maintained close oversight of the situation, coordinating with key government and military officials, including Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, National Defense Minister Major General Michel Menassa, Army Commander General Rodolphe Heikal, and security chiefs. He has underscored the necessity of taking appropriate measures to preserve the country's stability.
