Beirut: The joint parliamentary committees convened in the main hall of Parliament, chaired by Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab, with the participation of several ministers, including Minister of Finance Yassin Jaber, Information Dr. Paul Morcos, Defense Michel Menassa, Agriculture Nizar Hani, and Displaced and Artificial Intelligence Dr. Kamal Shehadeh.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the session was also attended by key figures such as the Head of the Civil Service Council, Nisreen Machmouchi, the Chairman of the Council for Development and Reconstruction, Mohammad Qabbani, and the Director General of the Ministry of Information, Dr. Hassan Falha, along with a number of lawmakers.
Following the session, the parliamentary committees issued a statement announcing the approval of a draft law aimed at concluding a loan agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. This loan is intended to finance the "Green Transformation in the Agri-Food Sector for Economic Recovery" project.
Additionally, the committees approved a draft law to open an additional appropriation in the 2025 budget. This allocation provides monthly financial grants for active service military personnel amounting to LBP 14 million, and for retired military personnel, LBP 12 million. The financial grants will take effect starting July 1.
The committees also gave their approval to a draft law intended to empower municipalities.
