Beirut: Minister of Information, Dr. Paul Morcos, on Monday received in his office at the ministry, the Brazilian Ambassador to Lebanon, Tarcsio Costa, accompanied by the head of the cultural and press section at the embassy, Pablo Perez Sampedro Romer. The discussion reportedly touched on ways to strengthen the bilateral relations, especially in the media field.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, after the meeting, Minister Morcos stated that the visit marked the beginning of cooperation in media relations between Lebanon and Brazil. He emphasized discussions on other avenues of cooperation, including supporting the development of Tele Liban and the potential for broadcasting Brazilian documentaries or programs on its channel.
Minister Morcos also mentioned his proposal for Tele Liban to acquire broadcasting rights for sports events, particularly those related to Brazilian football, which Ambassador Costa promised to consider.
Ambassador Costa described the meeting as "fruitful," highlighting the exchange of views on enhancing bilateral media relations. He expressed his anticipation for increased joint cooperation between the two sides.
In a press release by the Brazilian Embassy in Beirut, it was noted that Ambassador Costa's meeting with Minister Morcos included discussions on strengthening cooperation in media and communication. The discussions also covered promoting cultural exchange through audiovisual content. They underscored the longstanding Brazil-Lebanon relations and the celebration of the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
