The Brazilian government highlighted these actions as violations of Iran's sovereignty and international law, emphasizing that targeting nuclear facilities contravenes the United Nations Charter and International Atomic Energy Agency norms and poses risks of radioactive contamination and environmental disasters.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Brazilian government has reiterated its long-standing stance on the peaceful use of nuclear energy and firmly opposes any form of nuclear proliferation, particularly in geopolitically unstable regions like the Middle East. The statement also condemned reciprocal attacks on populated areas that have resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, noting the special protection afforded to hospitals under international humanitarian law.
Brazil called for all parties involved in the conflict to exercise maximum restraint and stressed the urgent need for a diplomatic resolution to halt the ongoing cycle of violence and facilitate peace negotiations. The Brazilian government warned that the continued military escalation could inflict lasting harm on regional and global peace and stability, as well as undermine the nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament regime.
