Salam Pays Tribute to Lebanese Army, Reaffirms Commitment to State Sovereignty

Beirut: Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, on Friday wrote on X platform: 'One army for one people in one homeland. On its national day, we salute our proud army, honor the sacrifices of its soldiers and officers, and bow to the memory of its noble martyrs. The army is the emblem of our sovereignty, the symbol of our independence, and the steadfast guardian of our security.'

According to National news agency - Lebanon, Salam emphasized the crucial role of the Lebanese army in maintaining the nation's sovereignty and stability. He highlighted that Lebanon's salvation is contingent upon confining arms solely to the national army, a move he believes is essential for the country's stability. Salam also reiterated the need for the Lebanese state's authority to extend across all its territory through its own forces, aligning with the principles set out in the Taif Accord and the government's ministerial statement.

Salam's statement comes at a time when Lebanon is facing numerous challenges, both internally and externally. The Prime Minister's message underscores his commitment to strengthening the national army and ensuring that it remains the primary force responsible for the nation's security. By advocating for the concentration of arms within the national army, Salam aims to unify the country's defense capabilities and reinforce its sovereignty.
