Gebran Bassil Highlights Lebanese Diaspora’s Role in National Decision-Making

Beirut: Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Gebran Bassil recently underscored the significant role of the Lebanese diaspora during a dinner hosted by the party's Diaspora Department. He addressed the dual nature of the diaspora's reality, acknowledging both the pain caused by emigration and the success Lebanese expatriates have achieved globally.

According to National news Agency - Lebanon, Bassil emphasized that Lebanon's survival is intricately linked to its expatriates, describing them as the economic lifeline of the nation, particularly in the face of ongoing challenges. He lauded the diaspora's role in promoting Lebanese culture and traditions worldwide.

Bassil further remarked on Lebanon's enduring nature, questioning attempts to undermine its existence. He stated, "Lebanon is a country that will not disappear," and challenged the notion of shrinking Lebanon's presence, asserting that the nation is more than its geographical boundaries and crises.

He highlighted that expatriates should not merely be viewed as sources of financial support but as true partners in decision-making. Bassil called for a redefinition of the state's relationship with the diaspora, emphasizing their integral role.

In his address to the expatriates, Bassil concluded by expressing that Lebanon eagerly awaits their contributions to transform challenges into opportunities. He affirmed, "Without you, Lebanon is not truly Lebanon."
