Beirut: Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem emphasized on Tuesday the necessity for Lebanese cooperation within national unity to construct the nation and maintain stability, distancing from US influence. During a memorial ceremony for IRGC Brigadier General Mohammad Saeed Izadi, Sheikh Qassem highlighted the ceasefire agreement as a testament to the collaboration between Hezbollah and the state, asserting Hezbollah's adherence to the ceasefire terms despite violations by Israel.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Sheikh Qassem stated that the Israeli adversary regretted the ceasefire agreement, recognizing it allowed Hezbollah to sustain its influence in Lebanon. He criticized the United States for imposing conditions aimed at weakening Lebanon and its Resistance, benefiting Israel. Sheikh Qassem detailed demands from Barrack for disarmament within 30 days, including basic weapons, and the dismantling of capabilities without understanding their extent, in exchange for Israeli withdrawal from certain points.
Sheikh Qassem rejected new agreements, insisting on the implementation of existing ones, and dismissed any proposed timelines under Israeli aggression. He questioned the notion of sovereignty linked to weapon abandonment, calling for a proposal to strengthen Lebanon's defense in the face of aggression and emphasizing the Resistance's constitutional role under the Taif Agreement.
He warned against internal sedition and the influence of foreign agendas, advocating for internal consensus to protect Lebanon's sovereignty. Sheikh Qassem praised the sacrifices of the Resistance fighters and their commitment to Lebanon's honor and independence, while acknowledging the achievements of injured fighters like those from the 'Pagers' operation.
Sheikh Qassem also addressed the Beirut port explosion, urging for a swift completion of investigations devoid of political interference. He paid tribute to Martyr Hajj Ramadan for his dedication to the Palestinian cause and his efforts in fostering unity among Palestinian factions, underscoring the humanitarian nature of the Palestinian issue.
