Baabda: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, met with several delegations, including a group from the "Kulluna Irada" association led by Wafaa Saab, at the Baabda presidential palace. President Aoun highlighted the importance of ongoing reforms, asserting that the reform process has commenced and will persist despite challenges. He emphasized the judiciary's crucial role in combating corruption, noting that recent judicial formations would expedite justice and resolve pending issues.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun remarked on the significance of maintaining sectarian balance in appointments while prioritizing national interests and selecting elite candidates for key positions. He also underscored the Lebanese diaspora's role in supporting national economic recovery and urged the media to focus on positive national developments.
In a separate meeting with MP Firas Hamdan, President Aoun discussed the country's general situation. MP Hamdan affirmed his support for the President's commitment to ensuring state control of weapons through the Lebanese Army. He also expressed support for recovery efforts, Israel's withdrawal, reconstruction, and the return of displaced residents. Additionally, Hamdan thanked President Aoun for backing legislation that grants fee exemptions to residents of southern districts affected by recent aggressions.
President Aoun's subsequent meeting with former Minister Ibrahim Daher involved discussions on current issues amid recent developments. Aoun also engaged with a delegation from the Lebanese Center for Mediation and Conciliation (LAMAC), who updated him on their ongoing work.
