Beirut: Prime Minister Nawaf Salam on Monday welcomed Kataeb Party leader, MP Sami Gemayel, along with MPs Salim Sayegh, Nadim Gemayel, and Elias Hankach, at the Grand Serail. The meeting underscored the collaborative efforts needed to address Lebanon's ongoing challenges and highlighted the importance of unity among the country's leaders.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the visit by the Kataeb delegation was an opportunity to congratulate Salam on his leadership role, commend his resolve and courage, and wish him success as he navigates Lebanon through its current difficulties. MP Sami Gemayel expressed confidence in the collaborative efforts between the prime minister, president, and cabinet, suggesting that Lebanon has a 'historic opportunity' to recover and foster hope for a brighter future.
During the meeting, Gemayel paid tribute to the Lebanese Army soldiers who had recently lost their lives, referring to them as 'martyrs of sovereignty and legitimacy.' He affirmed the Kataeb Party's continued support for the army, emphasizing its crucial role in maintaining national security.
The conversation also addressed recent Iranian statements regarding Lebanese affairs. Gemayel strongly rejected remarks from Iranian officials, labeling them as violations of Lebanon's sovereignty. He accused Iran of perpetuating instability through its support for Hezbollah and urged Tehran to show more respect towards Lebanon.
Prime Minister Salam also engaged in discussions with MP Hadi Aboul Hosn about national and development issues, MP Abdel Aziz Al-Samad on general conditions, and Maronite Foundation for Diaspora head Rose Choueiri on nationality restoration decrees pending government action.
