Druze Religious Leadership Condemns Attack on Medical Staff in Sweida, Urges Accountability

Sweida: The media office of the Druze religious leadership (Sheikh al-Aql) on Monday released a statement condemning an attack on a member of the medical staff at the National Hospital in Sweida. The incident, captured on video and circulated by media and social platforms, depicts what the office described as a 'criminal, inhumane, immoral, and barbaric act' by security personnel.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Druze leadership emphasized the necessity of urgent investigations to identify and hold accountable those responsible for the incident. They stressed the importance of addressing not only this particular event but also other violations and atrocities occurring in the city, along with identifying the parties behind them.

The leadership called upon international bodies, human rights organizations, and specialized institutions to examine evidence of violations against unarmed civilians, including elders, women, and children, and to take appropriate action. They further commended the UN Security Council for its decision to ensure that those responsible for violence against civilians in Sweida are held accountable and brought to justice.
