Beirut: Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem on Monday urged the Lebanese government to reverse its decisions concerning the disarmament of the resistance. Sheikh Qassem emphasized the importance of maintaining the ceasefire agreement with Israel, which calls for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territories, cessation of attacks, and the release of Lebanese prisoners.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Sheikh Qassem criticized the Lebanese government's actions as being influenced by American supervision, which he claims supports Israeli aggression and expansionist intentions. He stressed that rejecting US demands is crucial to avoid internal strife and that Hezbollah will not support a step-for-step proposal due to distrust in American intentions.
Sheikh Qassem reiterated that Hezbollah is committed to defending Lebanon and its sovereignty. He stated that Hezbollah's resistance is not meant to replace the Lebanese army but to support it in defending the nation. He also warned against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's plans for a 'Greater Israel' and affirmed Hezbollah's role in preventing Israeli expansion in the region.
Highlighting the destructive influence of the United States in Lebanon, Sheikh Qassem criticized American sanctions, the blocking of gas projects, and interference in Lebanese reconstruction efforts. He emphasized that the resistance has been pivotal in preventing Israeli occupation and aggression since 2006.
Sheikh Qassem called on the Lebanese government to devise a plan for restoring national sovereignty, emphasizing that stability and revival depend on it. He urged political parties and elites to contribute proposals and support the government in achieving this goal.
Reflecting on past victories, Sheikh Qassem recalled the 'Fajr Al-Joroud' battle, where the Lebanese Army and the Islamic Resistance collaborated to achieve liberation. He also expressed solidarity with Yemen, condemning Israeli attacks on civilian facilities due to Yemeni support for Gaza.
The memorial ceremony also honored the legacy of Imam Sayyed Moussa Al-Sadr and Sayyed Abbas Ali Al-Moussawi, both significant figures in Lebanon's resistance history. Sheikh Qassem called for attention to the anniversary of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and reiterated a commitment to national unity.
Deputy Head of Lebanon's Higher Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, also addressed the event, advising the government to resist American pressures and avoid decisions that could lead to internal conflict.
