Menassa Stresses Legal and Security Standards for Syrian Refugee Departure

Beirut: National Defense Minister, Michel Menassa, on Wednesday joined by Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar, Public Works and Transport Minister, Fayez Rasamny, General Security Chief Maj. Gen. Hassan Choucair, Army Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Hassan Ouda, and Supreme Defense Council Secretary-General Maj. Gen. Mohammad Mustafa, conducted a field inspection at the Aboudieh and Arida crossings on Lebanon's northern border.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Menassa was briefed on the procedures for the voluntary return of Syrian refugees and underscored the importance of streamlining operations while strictly upholding legal, security, and humanitarian standards. He called for continuous coordination among military, security, and civil agencies to ensure a safe and dignified return process.

Menassa stated, 'This visit comes as part of direct follow-up on the refugee file, to assess needs and resolve any potential obstacles,' reaffirming the government's commitment to an organized and responsible return of refugees.
