Baabda: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Friday received former Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, at the Baabda Palace. The two leaders discussed regional issues and the current developments in the Middle East.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, in a separate matter, President Aoun sent a telegram of condolences to Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa following a tragic tram accident in Lisbon. The message conveyed deep sadness over the accident, which claimed lives and left others injured, expressing heartfelt sympathies to the victims' families and the people of Portugal. It highlighted the longstanding relationship between Lebanon and Portugal, emphasizing mutual respect and cultural cooperation.
President Aoun assured Portugal of Lebanon's full solidarity during this challenging time, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured and strength to the families of the victims. He expressed confidence in Portugal's ability to overcome the hardship with determination, as it has in the past.
