Beirut: As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, the Environment and Sustainable Development Unit (ESDU) at the American University of Beirut (AUB), in collaboration with the NEXT STEP Program at the AUB Continuing Education Center, will host the "Inclusive Green Jobs and Skills Fair: A Festival of Sustainability and Inclusion" on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sioufi Garden, Beirut.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the fair highlights the intersection of environmental sustainability and social inclusion, with the goal of empowering people with special abilities to participate in Lebanon's green economy. It will connect job seekers with employers, training centers, and civil society organizations in fields such as agriculture, recycling, eco-tourism, and food systems, while raising awareness about the importance of accessible and inclusive employment.
The event is part of the Sustainable Integrated Municipal Actions (SiMA) project's grant component funded by the German government through KfW Development Bank and implemented by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), with the additional support of Dawaer Foundation, the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at AUB, and the Food Heritage Foundation.
Highlights include an inspirational talk, a music performance showcasing the artistic talents of individuals with special abilities, a skills and career showcase with interactive booths, and a final accessible Sioufi Garden tour. The fair will bring together representatives from academia, government, civil society, the private sector, and organizations supporting people with special abilities.
