Beirut: Labor Minister, Dr. Mohammad Haidar, on Monday met with General Security Director General, Maj. Gen. Hassan Choucair, to coordinate efforts on work permits and residency regulations for foreign labor in Lebanon.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Minister Haidar announced an upcoming regularization campaign aimed at assisting Arab and foreign workers with expired permits or residencies. This initiative is directed at individuals who entered the country legally, allowing them the opportunity to obtain work permits before renewing their residency.
Furthermore, Minister Haidar issued a warning to employers who hire undocumented workers, stating they will face legal and administrative sanctions. He provided a grace period until the end of the year for employers to comply with these regulations.
Additionally, Minister Haidar pledged to revoke the licenses of recruitment offices that facilitate the hiring of hourly domestic workers, as part of the broader effort to regulate the labor market.
