Gaza city: The Israeli army conducted a series of airstrikes and home demolitions in the Gaza Strip early Sunday, targeting various areas despite an ongoing ceasefire. The operations were concentrated in the military-controlled yellow zone across the region.
According to Anadolu Agency, Israeli aircraft targeted several locations in Rafah, and naval vessels fired shells towards the city's coastline. The military vehicles stationed near the Morag Axis, northeast of Rafah, were reported to have engaged in sweeping operations accompanied by heavy gunfire.
Witnesses reported that Israeli artillery shelled eastern Khan Younis and helicopters launched attacks on several buildings amid the ongoing demolitions. An airstrike also targeted the area east of the Al-Bureij refugee camp in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza.
In the northern part of the Gaza Strip, Israeli forces targeted eastern Gaza City, with reports of intense gunfire from helicopters in eastern Jabalia. Despite the scale of the operations, there were no immediate reports of casualties.
The Israeli actions represent ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian group Hamas. Since October 10, the Israeli military has reportedly committed nearly 500 violations, resulting in the deaths of 354 Palestinians, according to Gaza government figures.
Since October 2023, the prolonged conflict has claimed the lives of over 70,000 people in Gaza, mostly women and children, and has left nearly 171,000 individuals injured. The over two-year war has devastated much of the enclave.
