Doha: Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, following the opening session of the Doha Forum. During the meeting, the Emir reaffirmed "Qatar's continued political and economic support for Lebanon", noting that "Doha will soon announce a new package of aid projects dedicated to the country."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Prime Minister Salam expressed his keenness to maintain strong relations between the two nations and conveyed his appreciation for Qatar's ongoing support, especially in economic and diplomatic spheres. Salam praised Doha's role in backing Lebanon's stability efforts and strengthening the capacity of its legitimate institutions.
He noted that "the Lebanese Army is continuing to extend state authority by its own means", starting from the area south of the Litani River, where the first phase is nearing completion. He stressed the need to "intensify diplomatic pressure on Israel to halt its aggression and withdraw from remaining occupied areas", calling on Qatar to continue playing a vital role in this effort and in promoting international efforts to stabilize southern Lebanon.
