Zahle: The "Said Akl, If He Could Speak" museum project was officially inaugurated under the patronage of President Joseph Aoun during an exceptional national and cultural ceremony held at the Zahle Municipal Palace.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the event was marked by the presence of Minister of Culture Dr. Ghassan Salam©, representing President Joseph Aoun, alongside Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam, and a large gathering of ministers, parliamentarians, ambassadors, judges, security chiefs, party leaders, religious leaders, directors general, writers, poets, artists, and prominent figures from various backgrounds. The attendance underscored the significance of the event and celebrated the legacy of Said Akl.
In his address, Salam© highlighted the role of poetry as a connection to heritage, history, and identity. He conveyed greetings and congratulations from President Aoun, Speaker Berri, and Prime Minister Salam, expressing their hope for the museum's success and development. Salam© elaborated on the nature of poetry, describing it as a source of joy that links the past to the present and serves as a remedy for those seeking solace.
Salam© praised Zahle as a city that has greatly contributed to Lebanon's cultural landscape, particularly in poetry. He acknowledged the efforts of the Zahle City Council, the Zahle Cultural Council, and Notre Dame University of Louaize in establishing the museum in Said Akl's hometown. The innovative use of artificial intelligence in the museum's design was commended for its courage and discernment, highlighting the potential of AI to enhance the understanding of Akl's poetic genius while emphasizing that emotion remains the domain of humanity.
Salam© concluded by expressing his commitment to supporting the museum's development and congratulated its initiators. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a commemorative plaque, designed by artist Jihad Qassouf, to Minister Salam© in recognition of his support and presence.
