Doha: On the sidelines of his participation in the Doha Forum, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met with several international figures and representatives of UN agencies to discuss important issues concerning Lebanon and its future engagements.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Salam held a significant meeting with Ms. Helga Schmid, Vice President of the Munich Security Conference Foundation. During this interaction, Schmid extended an official invitation to Salam to participate in the upcoming Munich Security Conference scheduled for February 14 to 16, 2026.
Prime Minister Salam also engaged in discussions with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo. Their talks revolved around the post-UNIFIL phase, the ongoing reform process, and the refugee situation affecting Lebanon.
In another critical dialogue, Salam met with Prince Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, President of the International Peace Institute (IPI). Their discussion focused on strategies for supporting institutions and enhancing governance structures within Lebanon.
Additionally, Salam's meeting with Alexander de Crowe, Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), was attended by Lebanon's Minister of Administrative Development Fadi Makki and PM Salam's Office Director Farah Al-Khatib. The conversation centered on current support programs and future plans to bolster the partnership aimed at facilitating reform, economic recovery, and social development initiatives in Lebanon.
