U.S. Ambassador: Foreign Minister Briefed on Possible Army Chief Visit to Washington

Beirut: U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Michael Issa, on Monday announced that discussions are ongoing concerning the potential visit of Army Commander Rudolf Haykal to Washington. The ambassador shared this information following his meeting with Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi, indicating his belief that the visit will take place, although he emphasized that nothing has been confirmed yet.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Ambassador Issa, when questioned, stated that he had no information pertaining to any discussions about merging Syria and Lebanon. He also addressed the Mechanism Committee meetings, remarking that peace was not anticipated from the initial session. He highlighted the necessity for parties to convene and contribute their perspectives to the discussions.
