Salam©: 2026 to Be the Year of Public Libraries

Beirut: At the National Library, Minister of Culture Ghassan Salam© presented a significant donation of books and periodicals from the collections of the Ministry of Culture and the National Library to heads of public libraries across Lebanon. The initiative falls within the Ministry's policy of supporting public libraries and promoting access to knowledge within the community.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the donation aims to enrich library collections and provide readers of all ages and backgrounds with a diverse range of cultural and educational materials, particularly in light of the current economic challenges that have limited access to books. The move reflects a spirit of cultural solidarity and underscores both individual and institutional awareness of the importance of reading and equal access to education.

On the occasion, Minister Salam© said: 'This is only the beginning of an ambitious project to revitalize public libraries.' He noted that the project's outcomes will gradually take shape through the provision of digital and printed books, as well as the training of library staff.

Salam© stressed that 2026 will, in large measure, be the year of public libraries for the Ministry of Culture.
