Beirut:MP Bilal Abdallah, head of Parliament's Health Committee, emphasized the need to activate the National Food Safety Authority following several food poisoning incidents, including a parasitic poisoning at a restaurant in Beirut.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Abdallah received a call from Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to discuss these incidents. Their conversation focused on the critical role of the National Food Safety Authority in safeguarding public health and the necessity of ongoing monitoring of the food supply chain.
Abdallah stated that the Health Committee is scheduled to meet on Monday morning with the chairman and members of the authority. The agenda will include discussions on the measures required to initiate the authority's operations, aligning with directives from Prime Minister Salam.
