Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Chairman Meets Grand Imam of Al Azhar in Cairo

Cairo: Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA), met with His Eminence Professor Dr. Ahmed Al Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar, in Cairo. Shaikh Abdulrahman extended the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, acknowledging the Grand Imam's efforts in serving Islam and its values.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Kingdom of Bahrain holds Al Azhar in high regard, recognizing it as a symbol of moderation and a center for Muslim unity. Shaikh Abdulrahman highlighted Al Azhar's historical role in fostering cooperation among scholars from varying schools of thought to promote unity and prevent sectarian strife.

Shaikh Abdulrahman expressed the Council's pride in its ongoing relationship with Al Azhar and the Grand Imam, commending efforts towards spreading tolerance and addressing contemporary needs. The Grand Imam, in turn, appreciated Bahrain's efforts to enhance Islamic unity and promote coexistence under the leadership of His Majesty the King.

Both leaders discussed several Islamic issues, including the upcoming Second Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference in Egypt on April 1-2, and reflected on the success of the previous session hosted by Bahrain in February 2025, themed "One Nation, One Shared Destiny."
