Tripoli: Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stated that he has been closely monitoring the developments surrounding the collapse of a previously evacuated, structurally unsound building in the Qobbeh area of Tripoli. This has been in coordination with Secretary-General of the Higher Relief Council Brig. Gen. Bassam Al-Nabulsi.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, Salam issued a statement indicating that he has been following the rescue operation of family members who had returned to the building and has instructed that all necessary assistance be provided to them. He emphasized the need to increase the level of preparedness and enhance coordination with the Disaster Risk Management Unit at the Grand Serail, the Municipality of Tripoli, and all relevant authorities.
Salam highlighted that the government is prioritizing the issue of buildings at risk of collapse in Tripoli and is actively working to secure the necessary funding as quickly as possible. He affirmed that ensuring the protection of citizens’ lives and safety remains an absolute government priority.
