Beirut: House Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Wednesday received UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Barham Salih, along with Rima Jamous Imseis, Imran Riza, and Carolina Billings, to discuss developments in Lebanon amid ongoing Israeli attacks and UN displacement programs. This meeting focused on the current situation in Lebanon, addressing the challenges posed by the conflict and the efforts of the UNHCR to manage displacement issues.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Berri also met with Taymour Joumblatt, the head of the Progressive Socialist Party, and a delegation from the Democratic Gathering bloc. This meeting aimed to review political and field developments, highlighting the ongoing political discourse and strategies in light of regional tensions.
Separately, Berri held discussions with General Security chief Hassan Choucair, focusing on security-related matters impacting the region. These meetings underscore the multifaceted approach Berri is taking to address both internal and external challenges facing Lebanon.
In addition to these meetings, Berri sent a congratulatory message to Iraqi President Nizar Amidi, acknowledging Iraq's continued support for Lebanon in these challenging times.
