Jumblatt Calls for Sustaining Ceasefire, Backs Negotiations Based on Withdrawal

Beirut: Former Progressive Socialist Party leader, Walid Jumblatt, on Tuesday stressed the need to find effective means for a permanent ceasefire, warning that the crisis has deepened. Speaking after meeting House Speaker, Nabih Berri, Jumblatt said he supported negotiations based on a clear agenda centered on withdrawal and restoration of land, suggesting a return to the 1949 armistice with adjustments.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Jumblatt emphasized the importance of maintaining the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), describing any decision to withdraw it as a mistake.
