Bared: Energy and Water Minister Joe Saddi on Wednesday began his tour of North Lebanon with a visit to the Bared area, where he was welcomed by MPs Saji Attieh, Walid Baarini, Mohammad Sleiman, Ahmad Rostom, Mohammad Yahya, and Abdel Aziz Samad, alongside municipal officials and mukhtars.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Saddi was accompanied by a delegation from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Electricit© du Liban Director General Kamal Hayek. They toured the Bared hydroelectric power plants to review preparations for a rehabilitation project funded by the German government through KfW and implemented by UNDP.
The project aims to increase electricity production, expand clean energy generation, and strengthen Lebanon's energy resilience. It includes upgrades to the Bared 1 hydropower plant (13.5 MW) and Bared 2 plant (3.7 MW), while also assessing the integration of solar photovoltaic systems and pumped-storage hydropower solutions to further enhance the facilities.
