Beirut: Ali Hayek, head of the Amal Movement's Foreign Relations and Expatriates Office, led a delegation to the Chinese Embassy in Beirut, where they met Ambassador Chen Chuandong and handed him a letter highlighting what they described as continuing Israeli attacks, demolitions, and the burning of homes in southern Lebanon. Hayek conveyed the greetings of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and the Amal Movement, saying China had stood by Lebanon throughout its crises and expressing hope for stronger bilateral ties in the interests of both countries.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Ambassador Chen reaffirmed the depth of relations between the Chinese Embassy and the Amal Movement, describing China as "a sincere and faithful friend" of Lebanon. The ambassador reiterated China's position that Israel should withdraw from all Lebanese territory and cease targeting civilians and infrastructure, adding that Beijing continued to support Lebanon at the United Nations.
Chen also said China supports Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, backs the role of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and is working to support the extension of the peacekeeping mission's mandate. He noted that more than 480 Chinese peacekeepers are serving in southern Lebanon.
The ambassador added that China would continue supporting Lebanon through its current challenges, noting that a first batch of Chinese assistance was delivered in May and that preparations were underway for a second shipment, including medical supplies. He also stressed China's opposition to global hegemony and its commitment to resolving disputes through dialogue, saying Beijing continued to pursue its own initiatives aimed at advancing peace in the Middle East.
