New York:Prime Minister Nawaf Salam conducted a series of high-level meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, engaging with key international leaders including UN Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres, Jordan's King Abdullah II, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and US Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Salam used these meetings to highlight Lebanon's priorities, such as the complete withdrawal of Israel from Lebanese territory and a cessation of Israeli attacks. He also emphasized the need for greater support for the Lebanese Army, the continued international presence in southern Lebanon after the UNIFIL mission ends, and the consolidation of state authority with exclusive control over weapons.
Discussions also addressed initiatives to mobilize support for Lebanon's return, recovery, and reconstruction efforts, as well as the advancement of government reforms. Additionally, there was a focus on expanding investment and cooperation in critical sectors like energy, transport, and regional connectivity.
Salam reiterated Lebanon's commitment to rebuilding a strong state, restoring its sovereignty, and aiding the recovery of communities affected by past conflicts.
