A central meeting between the leadership of Hamas and the Popular Front in Beirut


Deputy Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas, Saleh Al-Arouri, received at his headquarters in Beirut, Deputy Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Jamil Mezher, to discuss developments in the Palestinian issue.



The Front’s delegation included Marwan Abdel-Al, a member of the Political Bureau, Haitham Abdo, the Front’s official in Lebanon, and a member of the Central Committee, Ahmed Khreis, while the meeting was attended by Hamas’s Dr. Musa Abu Marzouk, a member of the Movement’s Political Bureau, Ali Baraka, head of the Department of National Relations Abroad, and Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hadi, the movement’s representative in Lebanon.



The two sides reviewed the situation in Ain al-Hilweh camp after the unfortunate clashes in the camp stopped two days ago, and after deliberations.



The meeting stressed the need to unify efforts and escalate resistance against the occupation, settlement, Judaization of Jerusalem and the division of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and support the cause of the heroic prisoners and their struggle against the occupation authorities, according to a single national strategy to confront the occupation and its fascist government.



The attendees also affirmed their support for all efforts made to establish a ceasefire in the Ain al-Hilweh camp, especially President Nabih Berri’s initiative, stressing the end of armed demonstrations in the streets, the return of the displaced to the camp, and the evacuation of schools of all armed men, leading to the handover of those involved in the assassinations that took place. In the camp on the 29th and 30th of last July.



The meeting stressed the prohibition of internal fighting, not resorting to weapons in resolving conflicts in the Palestinian camps, activating joint Palestinian action, and assigning security maintenance tasks to the joint security force in coordination and cooperation with the relevant authorities in Lebanon.



The attendees affirmed their concern for civil peace in Lebanon, and for strengthening fraternal relations with the brotherly Lebanese people and with all Lebanese authorities, especially in the Sidon region and the south
