Akkar: As part of its ongoing efforts to protect natural landmarks and preserve Lebanon's environmental heritage, the Ministry of Agriculture's Akkar Department has reinstalled the iron fence around the protected cedar tree, after it was vandalized by some individuals for the purpose of taking photos, an action viewed as "irresponsible and completely unacceptable."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Agriculture Department affirmed in a statement that "this act constitutes a direct attack on a national and natural symbol," emphasizing that "any similar violation in the future will be met with strict legal action against the perpetrators, in order to preserve environmental sites and nature reserves."
The Ministry urged citizens and visitors to "respect natural landmarks and treat them with awareness and responsibility," considering the cedar tree as "an eternal national symbol that embodies Lebanon's identity and its environmental heritage."
The statement also affirmed the Agriculture Ministry's continued efforts to protect natural resources across Lebanon's different regions.
