AI Training Initiative for Public Sector to Boost Government Efficiency Launched

AMMAN: The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB), has unveiled a significant initiative to enhance the capabilities of public sector employees in artificial intelligence (AI). This project is part of a broader strategy to modernize government operations, drive innovation, and integrate advanced AI technologies across various departments. According to Jordan News Agency, the initiative is expected to reshape government services by improving operational efficiency and fostering a culture of innovation within public institutions. Sami Smeirat, the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, emphasized the critical role AI will play in transforming the delivery of government services, stating that this program is designed to encourage operational advancements and innovation. Brigadier General Ayman Batran, Director of JODDB, highlighted the importance of equipping the public sector with advanced technology to prepare for fu ture challenges. He underscored the bureau's commitment as a key partner in this national initiative, aiming to position Jordan as a leader in government innovation. The first phase of the initiative targets training 3,000 employees from 100 government entities, focusing on senior leadership, general employees, and specialized technical staff. This effort is a pivotal component of Jordan's National AI Strategy, which aspires to empower 15,000 public sector workers with AI skills by the end of 2027. The overarching goal of the project is to enhance public service delivery by providing employees with access to cutting-edge AI knowledge, thereby positioning Jordan as a regional leader in governmental innovation and efficiency.
